About Pilates
Pilates is a mind-body technique initially developed by Joseph Pilates in the early 1900's. The exercises stretch, strengthen and balance the body, targeting the deep postural muscles.

Physiotherapist trained in Pilates
I qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2007 from the University of Southampton. I have worked in many clinical areas since qualifying, including treating people with a number of neurological conditions such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's Disease and Stroke. I also have experience working in falls prevention for older adults.
Before becoming a Physiotherapist I worked as a fitness instructor and as a rehab assistant in a Chiropractic clinic, designing exercise programmes based around the principles of Pilates for people with back pain. After suffering with low back pain myself I took up Pilates and found it invaluable in rebalancing my body and significantly reducing my back pain as well as being a fun and relaxing form of exercise.
I trained as a Pilates instructor with The Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) in 2018. I chose to train with the APPI because I believe that the modified version of the traditional Pilates method that they teach is the safest and most effective way to perform Pilates.
I look forward to sharing the method with you!
