FAQ's
Are the classes suitable for me?
My classes are suitable for beginners and intermediates.
Beginners - Individuals who have no, or very little experience of Pilates. I will send a beginners introduction video prior to starting the class.
Intermediates - Individuals who have learnt the key principles of Pilates and have some knowledge of some of the key exercises.
I always give a variety of levels for people to work at and make sure i demonstrate all exercises fully.
Do I need a 1-1 assessment first?
If this is your first time in a Pilates class and you have back or neck pain, I would recommend a 1-1 before commencing a group class.
A 1-1 session is normally £50 but if you go on to join a block of classes you receive the 1-1 session half price (£25). A 1-1 is not compulsory but very beneficial.
Regardless of whether you have a 1-1 assessment, completion of a medical questionnaire is required before joining a class. After reviewing the medical questionnaire, I may need a further discussion with you, prior to you starting a group class. This is to ensure your safety when exercising.
How much are the classes?
Classes work out as £9.50 per class but are booked in advance in blocks of 4-6 weeks. The length of the blocks vary according to the time of year and my holidays. Classes often continue during school holidays.
Do I need to commit to a whole block?
You are welcome to have a free taster before committing to the block.
If you know in advance that you are unable to make more than 1 session in a block, there may be the option to just pay for sessions you are able to attend but this will depend on capacity and waiting lists at the time.
What happens if I cannot make a class on the day?
Unfortunately any missed classes are non-refundable. Classes are also not transferable to another individual but there is the possibility of swapping from the earlier class to the later class, or visa versa.
I have pre-recorded videos which are available to all my Pilates clients. Therefore, if clients are unable to attend a session, Pilates practice can still take place at home at a time suitable to the individual.
Please consider that if you decide not to attend a block, your space may be offered to another client if there is a waiting list.
What happens if my instructor has to cancel the class?
Occasionally a class may have to be cancelled by the instructor due to ill health or other unforeseen circumstances. In the event a class has to be cancelled, clients will be fully refunded for that class.
How long are the classes?
Classes are 55 mins allowing for some time at the start and end for any questions.
When should I arrive?
Please arrive 5-10 minutes before the class to allow for a prompt start. If you are new please arrive 10 minutes before to allow time for completion of a medical form and to answer any questions.
What should I wear and bring?
Please wear comfortable workout clothes. Shoes are not required. Please wear clean socks, or go barefoot.
You will need to bring your own Pilates mat. All other equipment will be provided although you are welcome to bring your own if you wish.
It is advisable to bring some water with you. You may want to bring a small hand towel to fold up for head support if you do not have a Pilates head cushion.
